Senior UI Engineer - Competitive Extraction Shooter | Ironbelly Studios
About the role
Join a 20+ person team of senior decorated industry veterans at Ironbelly Studios (300+ past projects) as we build the next blockbuster extraction shooter in Unreal Engine 5!
THE OPPORTUNITY You'll architect and implement the UI systems for an intensely competitive hardcore PC experience targeting veteran FPS players. This isn't just any UI work – you're designing interfaces that must maintain 144+ FPS while presenting complex game state information for split-second tactical decisions.
WHAT YOU'LL BUILD
- Scalable UI architecture using UE5's UMG system for competitive multiplayer gameplay
- Complex interactive systems: real-time inventory management, loadout customization, spectator interfaces
- Performance-critical HUD elements with robust server authority and client prediction
- UI integration with weapon trace mechanics, AI state machines, and persistent player data systems
- Tools and workflows supporting rapid iteration for our hardcore FPS audience
WHAT WE NEED
- 5+ years UI programming in game development
- Expert knowledge of UE5's UMG system and UI architecture patterns
- Strong C++ programming with UI system implementation focus
- Extensive Blueprint visual scripting experience for UI logic and data binding
- 2+ shipped commercial games with significant UI programming contribution
- Experience with UI performance optimization and memory management
PREFERRED SUPERPOWERS
- Competitive FPS/shooter game UI development experience
- Multiplayer UI synchronization and real-time data presentation
- Platform certification requirements (PC, Console) for UI
- UI localization, automation frameworks, and analytics implementation
