Intent of the process Currently our staffing needs are:
- One Public Health Nurse in *Sunchild First Nation*on a temporary basis for two years.
- One Home Care Nurse in *Sunchild First Nation*on a temporary basis for two years.
- One Community Health Nurse (Public Health/Home Care) in *Duncan's First Nation*on a temporary basis for one year.
A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) in Alberta only with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements as well as tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate) and/or security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.If positions become available in the future, they may be staffed in:
- Sturgeon Lake First Nation
- Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation
- Enoch Cree Nation
- Duncan's First Nation
- Paul First Nation
- Saddle Lake Cree Nation
- Sunchild First Nation

- Willingness and ability to travel to rural locations on gravel roads
- Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion
- Willingness and ability to work overtime in the event of a public health emergency or outbreak
- Willingness and ability to complete mandatory education/training relevant to the position

Experience:
Recent*and significant**independent clinical experience as a registered nurse (RN) in one of the following two areas:

Public Health/Community Health: Includes but not limited to Maternal/Child Health, Immunizations, Infection Prevention and Control.

Home Care: Includes but not limited to Wound Care Management, Long Term Care, Supportive and/or Seniors Living.

Recent is defined as within the last five (5) years.
**Significant is defined as at least one (1) years’ experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task

- Graduation with a degree*from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position.
- A baccalaureate or higher-level degree, bachelor of science in nursing.

Public Health Asset Experience:
- Experience with immunizations such as mass clinics (seasonal influenza, COVID-19), school or well-child clinics.
- Experience in the treatment and management of Sexually Transmitted Blood Borne Infections (STBBI).
- Experience with maternal-child development, post-partum or newborn assessments.
- Experience in infection control and prevention or Communicable Disease Control (CDC).
- Experience in harm reduction processes and procedures.
Home Care Asset Experience:
- Experience in wound management.
- Experience in palliative care nursing.
- Experience in chronic disease management.
- Experience with mental health programs or in providing mental health services.
Proficiency in speaking a First Nations’ language.
