Position Overview
Calian Health is seeking primary care paramedics for assignments in Indigenous communities in Northern Manitoba on a casual contract basis. A rotation of at least three weeks is required. Paramedics must be adaptable, as clinic settings can range from very small to large. Their role focuses on disease prevention, health promotion, and maintenance, while also encompassing primary care and emergency services related to mental health, medical, obstetrical, or trauma cases. The scope of work is determined by operational requirements and may also include administrative duties.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties in accordance with the scope of practice set by the applicable provincial regulatory body.
- Provide primary care and emergency services as required.
- Assist with administrative duties related to daily operations at the assigned work location.
- Be willing and able to travel using small aircraft, off-road vehicles, snowmobiles, small watercraft, and other similar modes of transportation.
- Work in remote, semi-isolated, and isolated areas under varied weather conditions.
- You have the ability to work under stressful situations and exercise sound judgement in all emergency care situations.
- Ability to identify patient treatment needs through assessment and provide appropriate care are key for this role.
Qualifications
- Licensed as a Primary Care Paramedic and in good standing with the Manitoba College of Paramedics (or willingness to obtain licensure in Manitoba)
- Current BLS and ITLS certification
- Minimum 1950 working hours of experience within the last 2 years
- Valid Driver’s License is required
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) – 2015 Version
- Transportation of dangerous goods for Air & Ground
- ISC 2Health Essential Learning: SOAP documentation & Health History Taking
