Title: Health Benefits Assessor (Internal Only)
Salary: $64,636 - $69,974 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Alberni Office - located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil- Waututh Nations. Hybrid (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy after the probationary period is over). Please note, this role will be relocating to our new office building in North Vancouver on Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) land, south of Mount Seymour Parkway, in Spring 2027

About the role
As Health Assessor, you will review, assess, and adjudicate First Nations health benefits requests. You will also process payments and client reimbursements, conduct analysis and provide recommendations regarding exceptions and appeals. As well as you will provide program information to key stakeholders. Additionally, you will maintain records and systems. Additionally you will maintain and update databases, client files, and management and document control of electronic images and files.

About you
Education and experience

  • Grade 12, including completion of one year of post-secondary education, plus one (1) year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Skills and abilities

  • Knowledge of First Nations social, health, economic, and political issues
  • Ability to provide information and advice directly to clients and providers
  • Ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Conflict resolution skill
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of data entry, manipulation, and retrieval techniques using a variety of automated systems and software.
