Job Posting Number: 20269-SMP2501H (please quote on application) Job Posting Date: July 3, 2026 Job Posting Close Date: August 3, 2026 Position: Course Instructor Number of Positions Available One (1) Term when the course will be offered: 2026 Fall Course Number & Title: SMP2501H- “Introduction to Pastoral Care” Course Description: Foundational elements for pastoral care: theology of ministry, acceptance of self, relationships, grief and loss, prayer, suffering, art of listening, care with the sick and infirm at home and in institutions. Qualifications: Ph.D. in theology or D.Min. with some expertise in pastoral theology and experience in pastoral praxis. Previous teaching experience in a similar course is strongly preferred. Ability to assume sole responsibility for the preparation and grading of all written assignments, and tests. Brief Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of course content; goals/outcomes; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs (if any) assigned to the course. Salary: $9,997.28 (includes vacation pay) Estimated Course Enrolment: 20 Estimated TA Support: N/A Class Schedule: Tuesdays, 7 PM to 9 PM (Online) Dates of the Appointment: September 14 to December 31, 2026 Application Process Applicants should submit a cover letter, an updated CV and names of three references via email to the Office of the Dean, Regis St. Michael’s Faculty of Theology, rsm.dean@utoronto.ca
