We have an exciting opportunity for a high-visibility project as a Senior Project Manager based in the GTA, Ontario, to join our Corporate Engineering team. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our growth and success.
The Senior Project Manager will provide exceptional leadership with clear direction and accountability for major capital projects. Handling the full scope of the installation, from initial budget requests and cost estimating through phased engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning, to ensure timely completion, our group EHS standards are paramount at every stage of the project.
We evolve in a World Class Manufacturing (Continuous Improvement program) environment, utilizing established Project Management Standards. In this role, you will be responsible for several large projects in unison, completed with the highest regard for safety, environment, quality and reliability, as well as performance ethics.
The project will focus on the new build, implementation of energy, controls, technology, and infrastructure capital improvements. Projects will vary from multiple contracts to oversight of turnkey installations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Completes phased engineering studies of projects for North American facilities, developing and evaluating conceptual alternatives in support of business needs.
- Prepares Capex authorization requests and presents to Senior Management for approval.
- Develops and maintains sound business relationships with Engineering’s Customers, Vendors, Suppliers, and contract resources and ensures alignment with our needs and expectations.
- Optimal use of competitive bidding, Low-Cost Country (LCC) sourcing techniques to designated countries for competitive installation costs.
- Provides Project Execution Plans, including Critical Path Schedules, Resource Plans, Project Risk Registers, and Budget and Variance reports.
- Strict regard for Project Scope and Change Management procedures.
- Utilizes World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and Early Equipment Management tools for new designs and installations.
- Collaborates with global internal and external project management experts to assure Best Practice implementation within our facilities.
- Directs project engineers; coordinates external vendors, installation contractors.
- Trains and leads the project management community in the identification and application of efficient project management tools and techniques.
- Key Contributor in assuring the company’s immediate and long-term capital program objectives are achieved.
- Assures capital program is implemented cost-effectively. Prepares capital cost estimates, capex budget requests, project spending variance reports, purchase orders, as well as invoice approvals. Assures projects achieve business benefit before closure. Develops reliable cost-effective project resources and methods, employing competitive bidding, low-cost country sourcing where advantageous.
- Insures adherence to documentation systems, Intellectual Property development and protection.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience with a successful record of accomplishment safely leading the completion of several major industrial project installations throughout North America.
- Ten (10) to Fifteen (15) years of related industrial, engineering or contracting experience in Project Engineering for major industrial projects.
- Recognized Project Management Expert for industrial facilities, experienced in directing engineering, consulting and construction resources within heavy industrial manufacturing environments on major capital project teams.
- Demonstrated record of project assignments completed on/under budget, on/ahead of required dates.
- Continuous learner in field and shares knowledge, flexible in assuming job assignments
- Driven, self-guided, accountable and collaborates well in a team environment
- Highly organized, documents meeting agendas, actions, trip reports, best practices. Provides innovative solutions.
- Strong commitment to cost savings, profit improvement delivery, efficiency.
- Superior communication, organization and presentation skills.
- Basic CAD skills, MS Project and Microsoft 360

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires some travel (up to 20%) overnight primarily in Canada. Considerable time spent in heavy manufacturing environments and construction job sites, requiring use of personal protection equipment.
