Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate welding equipment to fabricate and repair solid waste handling equipment.
- Prep equipment for painting and perform painting duties as assigned.
- Maintain accurate records of services and repairs performed.
- Track and manage supply inventory.
- Keep workspaces—including shop areas, job sites, and vehicles—clean and organized.
- Support fellow shop team members with repairs and related tasks.
- Inspect and maintain personal tools and equipment; report repair needs to the Shop Manager.
- Ensure all work meets quality, efficiency, and safety standards.
- Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Attend scheduled safety and branch meetings.
- Provide basic personal tools (e.g., welding shield, hand wrenches).
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic welding certification and/or a minimum of two years’ welding/fabrication experience required.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
- Must meet company standards for safety-sensitive work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus on tasks.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, safety-minded, and self-motivated.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Must be able to stand, sit, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.
- Must possess strong visual acuity, including depth perception and color vision.
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs, frequently up to 25 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Comfortable working in loud and physically demanding environments.
Working Conditions:
- Frequent exposure to loud noise, extreme temperatures, humidity, mechanical parts, vibration, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Occasional work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Work is conducted in both indoor and outdoor environments, often requiring the use of personal protective equipment.
