The CRI uses a multidisciplinary and cross-sector approach to focus its research on societal demands for water resources while addressing the challenges of sustaining, healthy aquatic ecosystems.

Standard Work Hours : Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week. Hours will vary depending on the demands of field season. Salary Range: $44,457- $55,572 per annum
YOUR FOCUS Reporting to the New Brunswick Aquatic Ecosystem Study (NBAES; formerly MAES) Project Managers, the Junior Science Technician works closely with the intermediate/senior scientific staff and faculty members of NBAES and is responsible for conducting research work, maintaining research equipment, analyzing data, and assisting in the preparation of technical reports.
- Assist intermediate/senior technicians in completion of field and laboratory work on behalf of grad students, research associates, principal investigators, and co-applicants.
- Lead and mentor undergraduate student teams.
- Follow applicable data collection and safety protocols.
- Maintain research equipment. Basic non-technical maintenance of research equipment used in the collection of field data as well as laboratory analyses. Prepare equipment for storage.
- Assist in the preparation of reports. Data entry, analysis, and perform initial Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC)checks.
- Oversee the health and safety of, and participate in training of, undergraduate students.
What You Bring
- 2-year diploma in a relevant science-based technical discipline, or 4-year science-based degree in a related discipline.
- Fluently converse with senior researchers and faculty on science matters.
Additional Strengths
- Prior experience operating trucks and boats is an asset.
- Prior certification and experience in First Aid or other safety certifications is an asset.
- Prior experience collecting and managing data is an asset.
