About the role

This posting is for multiple hourly positions working up to 30 hours per week

The Home Help Aide provides light housekeeping and social support to senior residents within Strathcona County to enable them to remain in their own homes. Hours are Monday to Friday, and can be from 8:00AM to 5:00PM, as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow a daily work schedule to provide in-home support to up to six participants per day with light housekeeping, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, washing floors, changing bed linens, general kitchen/bathroom cleaning and social support
  • Observe and report changes in client condition and circumstances which may signal the need for additional resources
  • Provide emotional support to participants
  • Attend training and team meetings as required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma
  • Experience working with seniors and an understanding of their needs
  • Commitment to service excellence , ability to maintain confidentiality and excellent personal and professional boundaries
  • Experience in house cleaning is an asset
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to remain calm and reassuring
  • Strong interpersonal skills, combined with empathy and respect
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills, with the ability to adapt to changing conditions
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and open to receiving feedback

Conditions of Employment:

  • Submission of a Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift approximately 15kgs (33lbs)
  • Will require reliable vehicle
  • Must be able to drive to rural homes
