About the role

We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto office. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.  

Role Overview

This role reports to the VP, Balance Sheet Risk, and is responsible for leading the end-to-end ICAAP (Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process) framework within the Bank. The position plays a critical role in ensuring robust capital planning, stress testing, and regulatory alignment in support of the Bank’s balance sheet risk management.

The Senior Manager will work closely with Treasury, Finance, Business, Risk, and senior stakeholders to deliver ICAAP production, maintain supporting models, and enhance methodologies across Pillar 2 capital frameworks. The role also includes ownership of regulatory deliverables, audit remediation, and continuous improvement of ICAAP processes and governance.

About the Day-to-day

  • Independently manage the ICAAP production timeline and deliverables, ensuring high-quality and timely submission.  Refresh and maintain the ICAAP workstream tracker for each annual iteration.
  • Own, maintain, and enhance the ICAAP balance sheet and stress testing models.
  • Refresh results from Pillar 2 Economic Capital models based on latest year end results, take ownership of underlying methodologies.
  • Accountable for remediation of validation findings in Pillar 2 models.
  • Maintain SharePoint site to store documentation, controls and artifacts for each annual ICAAP to support internal audit, OSFI reviews, and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead the refresh and update of the ICAAP report, including drafting key sections and incorporating stakeholder inputs.
  • Prepare and submit ICAAP regulatory returns, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Working closely with the VP Balance Sheet Risk and SVP of ERM, coordinate the ICAAP stress testing program, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and maintain detailed assumption documentation. .
  • Partner with Finance and Treasury on provisions, capital adequacy, and balance sheet projections.
  • Drive remediation efforts related to audit and regulatory findings associated with ICAAP.
  • Ensure ongoing enhancement of ICAAP methodologies, governance, and supporting processes.

About the Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in banking, risk management, or finance, preferably within Balance Sheet Risk, Capital Management, or Treasury;
  • 3+ years of direct experience with ICAAP production and regulatory reporting within Canadian financial institutions (OSFI environment strongly preferred).
  • Direct experience working with OSFI guidelines and supervisory expectations.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement) and banking products.
  • Strong knowledge of Pillar 2 Economic Capital models, including conceptual understanding of capital adequacy and risk coverage.
  • Good understanding of ECL methodologies (IFRS 9) and their impact on the balance sheet and income statement.
  • Experience with stress testing frameworks and scenario-based capital assessment.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with long timelines and multiple stakeholders.
  • Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, or FRM is preferred.

About the work environment

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm with flexibility around start/end times.

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $115,000 and $125,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
