  • 10 years of progressive related experience

Required Skills And Experience

  • Experience developing on cloud platforms and utilizing cloud services in development and in solutions (3 Years)
  • Experience in defining technical architecture, building technical environments, supporting software development processes and initiatives, software configuration, and database management (5 Years)
  • Experience in gathering requirements from a diverse group of stakeholders across ministries or departments (5 Years)
  • Experience in multiple architecture domains, e.g., business, application, technology, data/information, security, and privacy (3 Years)

The Remote Access Technical Architect provides support to the Service Manager and Service Owner to assist with day-to-day operational duties, ensuring the services are operating at peak efficiency, and that the Service architecture is configured to minimize costs and optimize the user and management experience. The Architect must understand the technical capabilities of the Azure Virtual Desktops (AVD) environment and be able to work in a collaborative manner with both the Service Provider and other technical teams.

Job Duties

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Research industry trends and new capabilities for Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Develops documentation for audit, standard operating procedures, change management, and knowledge articles
  • Evaluates risk and implements controls to satisfy the requirements of compliance documents such as Statement of Sensitivity (SOS) and Security Threat Risk Assessment (STRA)
  • Provides technical support and analysis to various projects to ensure the implementation of a high-quality solution
  • Contribute to developing the technical skills of the team through cross-training, formal training, and stretch assignments, to ensure they align with the IT strategic direction of the client
  • Service Development - Work with Service Manager/Owner on architectural design and Service Roadmap
  • The Remote Access Architect will work with the third-party service provider to ensure incremental continuous service improvement (CSI)
  • Work with Third Party Service provider and client technical teams on upkeep and maintenance of all relevant Remote Access Services infrastructure. Ensure renewal of applicable certificates and recommend potential upgrades when available
  • Will review the current disaster recovery plan and ensure completion of all DR activities during annual testing. Work with service providers and the service owner group on DR options that may improve accessibility, customer experience, and/or service cost
  • Work with the Service Manager on evaluating Application utilization within all AVD Services. Taking into consideration utilization, licensing, and performance. Maintain Application highlighting Application owners, support teams, and any complications associated with the applications
  • Work with the Service Manager on evaluating and surveying Remote Access Services use cases associated with external agencies, boards, and commissions. Create recommendations for improved and more cost-effective service delivery for user groups when applicable
  • Work with the Service Manager to review and create content for the Remote Access Services SharePoint site as well as Knowledge Base articles
  • Monitoring, Data Analysis, and Reporting
  • Assist third-party support providers with developing monitoring tools and regular reporting to communicate service performance, troubleshooting details, and capacity requirements.
  • Cloud and On-prem Infrastructure oversight
  • Work with the MRA Vendor to assist with the administration and support of the AVD environment, utilizing management tools, and collaborate with other teams to solve issues/concerns.
  • Will review current cloud and on-prem AVD infrastructure and document configurations within the Remote Access Services SharePoint site. Regular review and updating of infrastructure details will be completed annually
  • Work with third-party service provider and client technical teams on upkeep and maintenance of all relevant Remote Access Services infrastructure. Ensure renewal of applicable certificates and recommend potential upgrades when available
  • Will review the current disaster recovery plan and ensure completion of all DR activities during annual testing. Work with service providers and the service owner group on DR options that may improve accessibility, customer experience, and/or service cost
  • Review and evaluate Remote Access Services' current security posture. Assist with reviewing all Vulnerability Reports and work with the Service Manager, third-party service provider, and client technical and security teams to mitigate all identified vulnerabilities. Ensure any cybersecurity exceptions associated with the service are regularly reviewed, updated, and eliminated when possible
  • Provides technical support and analysis to various projects to ensure the implementation of a high-quality solution
