Occupational Therapist
About the role
POSITION: Occupational Therapist - temporary
ASSIGNMENT: All Grades or Levels
FTE: 0.6
LOCATION: District Administration Office
EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing September 1, 2026, until June 30, 2027, or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent, with the possibility of extension and/or reduction in FTE.
The main duties are to provide consultative services to students as referred for service. This includes providing assessments, recommendations to staff and families, determination of equipment needs, training of staff and liaising with external professionals and agencies as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Must be eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and the College of Occupational Therapists of BC
- Experience working with student-aged children, especially those with multiple physical challenges
- Experience working with children in integrated settings and working with multidisciplinary teams would be considered an asset
Skills:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Ability to liaise between school staff and outside agencies
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Strong initiative
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as a member of a team and maintain a positive work environment
- Ability to relate effectively with parents and children
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the program
- Own transportation for travel between schools is necessary
The annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $64,901 to $116,190 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
