Primary function

As part of the IT Quality Assurance & Corporate Analysts team, the Quality Assurance Analyst/Software Tester will participate in either waterfall or agile project environments. They will be responsible for coordinating and conducting tests on business applications and software, ensuring bugs are identified and resolved before deployment to production systems.

Throughout the testing process, this role will collaborate with various IT and business stakeholders during the DAT, FAT, and UAT phases to ensure the system solution/build aligns with business objectives and functional requirements through diverse test scenarios. Responsibilities may include executing hands-on tests, evaluating the product from an end-user's perspective, and coordinating the development of test scripts for end-user validation.

The successful candidate must be available to attend in person up to 5 days/week

Reporting to: Manager, IT Quality Assurance & Corporate Analysts

Key accountabilities

  • Working closely with the Lead, IT Programs, Products and Project Delivery, IT Quality Assurance Lead, IT PM, Developers and other project members to understand the system build requirements specifically as it relates to functional and technical specifications in an agile or waterfall methodology.
  • Work within the project or agile team to plan/co-ordinate and prepare test plans and test scenarios to verify the build works as designed
  • Test existing applications to demonstrate relevant system functionality across applications and workflows
  • Develop system test data to be used in performing required tests
  • Document test results in the proper logs and/or tracking applications/systems
  • Documents and maintains records of testing defects discovered during the test cycle
  • Identify flaws, errors, and issues with application functionality, flow and/or program changes
  • Research, document, report, and communicate any defects with functionality, flow and/or program changes
  • Timely retesting and documentation of the corrections made for defects
  • Hands on approach during testing cycles/coordination during the UAT phase
  • Securing sign offs based on project and release management process
  • Tracking system changes planned for release and ensuring protocols are followed
  • May be asked to prepare and coordinate cut-over migration task as required

Required skills & experience

  • 2+ years’ in-depth experience in one or more of the following applications MS Office 365 suite cloud technologies, MS Dynamic CRM, Oracle PeopleSoft CRM and Financials, Oracle Service Cloud, Intelligent Advisor, PDSVista 7, Legal Files, SharePoint, ServiceNow

  • Must demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to key testing activities including module testing, functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, negative testing, positive testing, limit testing, GUI testing, data validation testing and backend testing

  • Good understanding of the Development Life Cycle

  • Self-motivated, work well on a team, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong analytical skills

  • 2 years of experience in software testing/development role

  • Demonstrates a solid knowledge in computer systems in general

  • Self-starter and must be able to prioritize and work independently in a waterfall and agile sprint methodology

  • A university and/or college graduate in computer science,

  • Formal training or experience in quality assurance management techniques, audit and review techniques, acceptance and regression testing techniques, automated testing tools and project management.

  • A good understanding of systems development life cycle and related quality concepts coupled with a proven ability to identify test conditions and develop comprehensive test plans from functional specifications will ensure your success in this role.

  • A sound understanding of client servers as well as familiarity with PeopleSoft and associated products and tools, web testing browsers and ServiceNow

  • Experience using ServiceNow, QuickTest Pro, JMeter, HTML, VBScript, Peoplezilla, SharePoint

Our services

LAO services are carefully targeted to meet diverse client needs and make the most efficient use of our resources.

A wide range of services are available through LAO’s toll-free number, including summary legal advice for family and criminal law matters.

We provide duty counsel services - performed by staff and private-sector lawyers - for people who arrive in criminal, family or youth courts without a lawyer.

Poverty law services - such as helping people to obtain or maintain social assistance benefits - are delivered through a network of a number of independent, community-based legal aid clinics, funded by LAO.

LAO also runs a certificate program for the most serious and complex cases. Eligible low-income clients can obtain a certificate which is used to retain a private lawyer.
