Opportunity Are you a soon-to-be or a new graduate and looking to gain relevant practical accounting experience towards your Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation? – This could be your next career adventure.

AIMCo’s CPA Rotational Program presents you the opportunity to gain meaningful experience across AIMCo’s core accounting departments while working towards your CPA designation. You will have the opportunity to work in three to four of AIMCo's core accounting departments - Real Estate Financial Operations, Corporate & Investment Finance, Investment Valuations teams, and Internal Audit. Your exposure to different areas of the business will help you develop a diverse skillset, inform your career trajectory and provide a fresh perspective for our teams as we are always looking for more efficient ways to collaborate.

This 30-month rotational accounting program will start in May 2026. You will learn to provide meaningful analytics, perform accounting related activities for internal management, clients, or investment teams and deliver financial reporting to enable AIMCo teams to make informed decisions. As you complete your CPA Professional Education Program and pursue your CPA designation, you and your managers will focus on building competencies in key development areas and will receive support and assistance from co-workers as you work towards common goals.

Note: This is a Fixed-Term role starting in May 2026.

Responsibilities Your responsibilities will vary as you proceed through your rotations. You will learn the day-to-day operations of each group, learn and complete scheduled reports, and gain experience using MS Excel, Structured Query Language (SQL), PowerBI, and SimCorp Dimensions (SCD). You will learn to ensure Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) are being adhered to across the organization. You will learn how we apply another basis of accounting for our clients who report using different accounting frameworks.

As your depth of knowledge grows, you will work on more ad hoc requests and be expected to identify efficiencies and implement process changes with the support of your team members. As you develop trust and exhibit a high attention to detail, your responsibilities may increase throughout each rotation stream.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Completed undergraduate degree with specific subject area coverage in prerequisite courses to be eligible to enter the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP)
  • Awareness of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Exposure to financial accounting and analytical projects is an asset
  • Intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, PowerBI, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Self-driven with a high degree of intellectual curiosity and a passion for continuous learning.
  • Demonstrated time-management skills and an ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Track record of academic success while balancing extracurricular activities
  • Team-oriented with the ability to communicate in an effective and timely manner
  • Previous AIMCo internship experience is highly preferred
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

As your knowledge deepens, you'll take on more complex tasks, contribute to process improvements, and collaborate closely with your team. Progression through the program successfully means embracing learning opportunities, adapting across rotations, and working toward your CPA designation with support from your team and supervisors.
