As a valued member of our team, you will be working collaboratively—offering support not only to end users but also to your colleagues when they need a helping hand to resolve issues. In addition, you will be required to communicate with all levels of the organization.
The successful applicant for Technical Support will report to the Technical Support Manager. You will have demonstrated analytical problem solving and communication skills as well as a minimum of 5 years relevant experience as a hardware technician/support, trouble-shooting computer network connectivity issues, and working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Productivity Suites and CAD Software. Preference will be given to candidates with certifications such as CompTIA A+, ITIL.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide client support; maintenance, repair and installations of computer systems (hardware and software), assistance in LAN installations, maintenance of hardware and print operations as required. Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed and inventory of all equipment.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance and expansion of corporate hardware and software, including purchase recommendations and installations. Examples of hardware and software include, but is not limited to; personal computers, laptops, netbooks, tablets, scanners, smart phones, photocopiers, label printers, telephones, boardroom equipment, telephone system hardware, Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Productivity Suites, driver installations, third party applications and software updates.
- Maintains Help Desk system: addresses, updates and closes tickets.
- Supports and troubleshoots user problems. Determines if the problem is hardware, software or procedural and works to resolution. Where necessary, escalates problems to appropriate resource and follows-up to ensure resolution meets user needs.
- Acts as an interface between PC users and outside support organizations for hardware and software maintenance.
- Assists in maintaining software licensing agreements, including maintaining a current hardware and software inventory for the corporation.
- Recommends and/or conducts user training on PC software, hardware usage and network capabilities.
- Assists in installing and upgrading PC networked software and hardware.
- Maintains inventory records of equipment and hardware, as well as maintenance records for each piece of equipment.
- Schedules routine and preventative maintenance checks and logs information into the appropriate equipment logs. Completes PMs to the schedule.
- Evaluates and analyzes Help Desk tickets for recurring problems. Makes recommendations to reduce Help Desk tickets.
- Special project assignments.
- Participate in on-call rotation. May require after hours or weekend support of users. May need to work off hours on tasks that have the potential to interrupt service.
