Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)

Responsible for generating designs for the automated functional testing of PCBA’s and sub racks in a manufacturing environment and supporting the integration and validation of Simulators and Second Line Maintenance Devices (SLMD’s). The role involves working closely with peers to design complete simulator solutions for testing software, as well as maintaining and troubleshooting automated test equipment both locally in Toronto and at contract manufacturers.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Thorough working knowledge and experience using LabView and TestStand software and familiarity with NI equipment.
  • Develop both hardware and software test solutions for use in manufacturing environments based on Test Specifications, ensuring timely delivery to meet production schedules.
  • Utilize strong troubleshooting skills to debug and repair failed automated test equipment.
  • Use excellent communication skills to collaborate with contract manufacturers globally, supporting and coordinating the release of new production test solutions and troubleshooting existing ones.
  • Apply technical expertise to support hardware and software integration for simulators and SLMDs during validation phases to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining legacy test systems, including simulators, and developing cost-effective solutions for legacy hardware when the legacy test system has exceeded its useful life, supporting customer repairs and ongoing spare equipment orders.
  • Communicate with stakeholders regarding the status and gating activities for planning and executing hardware delivery schedules when deploying and troubleshooting production test equipment.
  • Support simulator design activities, including reviewing requirements, generating designs, conducting design reviews, and releasing final designs.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronic hardware and system design in the rail, transportation, or similar safety-critical industries.
  • University bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering.
  • Thorough working knowledge of LabView and TestStand software, including scripting to guide test system solutions developed by the team.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, including Python and Visual Basic.
  • English language fluency is mandatory.
  • Strong writing skills for preparing clear and concise reports and documents.
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills to interact confidently, courteously, and effectively with internal and external stakeholders and customers at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering designation desirable.
  • Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering
