About the role
Coldbox specializes in the Plan, Design and Build of environmentally controlled manufacturing and logistics facilities for the global food and pharmaceutical industries. We are currently seeking a General Accountant to join our rapidly growing company in Burlington, Ontario.
Key Purpose:
The General Accountant is accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving project expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected as well as assisting with month-end reporting and tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
PROJECT ACCOUNTING
- Perform an effective pivotal role between the Project Management department and Finance department.
- In charge of project financial life cycle from properly setting up project to closing out project in the ERP system.
- Calculate and analyze project progress billing for accuracy, assemble monthly owner billing package, and ensure invoice is sent to customers by deadline.
- Review project costs and ensure all costs booked for projects are accurate.
- Perform project cash flow forecast and ensure healthy cash flow for all assigned projects through proactively managing billing and AR collections.
- Assist Project Managers by proactively assessing project financial risks and promptly escalate issues to next level management, ensuring all project and contract related compliance are in place.
- Prepare EFT Documentation to pay project related payments.
MONTH END / REPORTING
- Perform month-end tasks such as calculating revenue recognition, WIP adjustment, and validating project forecast.
- Perform monthly project variance analysis.
- Credit card reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end tasks, monthly reporting, as well as ad-hoc reports.
Other
- Coordinate with CFO for weekly cheque run.
- Financial modeling for new projects or investments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Construction Software
- Outstanding teamwork skills
Qualifications College diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance
High attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
