Job Summary Reporting to the Lead, Network Infrastructure, you will be part of the Technology Infrastructure Services Support team providing second- and third-level technical support to internal departments. You will ensure reliable IT services, maintain infrastructure systems, and support ongoing technological improvements.
This role is hands-on and covers data center technologies, cloud services, network infrastructure, and disaster recovery, contributing directly to the City’s high-availability IT infrastructure.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support, resolving complex IT infrastructure issues.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot data center technologies, servers, storage systems, and backup/disaster recovery solutions.
- Administer and support Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and virtual server infrastructures, including hyper-converged infrastructure.
- Maintain and support firewalls, VPN solutions, and IT security systems to ensure secure access and protection of corporate infrastructure.
- Assist in the implementation, configuration, and administration of IT security measures working in conjunction with the Cyber Security team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and business units to assess IT infrastructure needs, recommend solutions, and implement improvements.
- Participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and technology deployments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations, procedures, and support tickets.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and IT best practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Competencies

Education & Experience: Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. An undergraduate degree will be considered an asset.

Strong hands-on experience in:

Maintaining, administrating and troubleshooting firewalls and VPN technologies.

Optimization of security policies, auditing, logs review and IPS.
-
Microsoft Azure administration includes identity and access management.
-
Microsoft M365 cloud services including Exchange online, Teams, OneDrive, Purview, Defender and Sharepoint.
-
Administration and support of enterprise virtual server environments including HCI.
-
Troubleshooting network and infrastructure related issues in a complex environment.
-
Administration and support of SAN (Storage Area Network) storage systems.

Backup and disaster recovery solutions

Considered an asset:

Supported and maintained Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)

Supported and maintained Data Centre core networking technologies.

Supported and maintained campus network and Wi-Fi infrastructure with multiple sites in a complex environment.

Worked on Advanced routing and switching.

Knowledge of ISP redundancy setup.

Knowledge of Power shell scripting.
