About the role

Transdev Canada is seeking dedicated and compassionate casual HandyDART Drivers to join our Duncan team.

As a HandyDART Driver, you will provide essential transportation services for individuals with disabilities and mobility challenges, ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity. If you have a strong commitment to helping others and a passion for driving, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding role.

Your role:

  • Safely and courteously assist passengers with boarding, securing mobility devices, and disembarking from the vehicle.
  • Operate HandyDART vehicles following all traffic regulations, company safety protocols, and accessible transportation standards.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules, making stops at designated locations to ensure passengers' timely arrival at their destinations.
  • Provide a safe, respectful, and empathetic environment for passengers, addressing their specific needs and concerns.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any defects or maintenance issues to the maintenance team.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and demeanour.

Your profile:

  • You hold a Class 4 Unrestricted driver's License.
  • You have a clean driving record.
  • You must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing and criminal background checks.
  • You have strong customer service skills and empathy for passengers with disabilities.
  • You can operate accessible transportation equipment and secure mobility devices.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience in passenger transportation, especially with individuals with disabilities, is an asset.

Your location:

  • This is a casual, unionized position in Duncan, BC.
  • Early, split & late shifts may be required.
  • HandyDART Bus Drivers must be available for at least 5 days a week, (assigned two consecutive days off).
