This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time positions working 75 hours bi-weekly.  It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill  

identical & similar positions.

As a Community Health Nurse (CHN) you will focus on preventative health strategies to promote the health and wellbeing of our community members. Your role

Reporting to the Nurse in Charge, this position will deliver preventative services in the form of screening, assessment, immunization, education/consultation, and health counseling to individuals and groups. Working as a CHN, you will be part of a team that constantly strives to improve services to the Yukon people.

Essential qualifications  

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Current Registration with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority

  • Recent experience in public health nursing or related field with emphasis on breastfeeding education, immunization, health protection, illness prevention, health promotion and community development.

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability

If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following: 

  • Strong knowledge in community health programs.

  • Strong knowledge in immunization delivery.

  • Knowledge of breastfeeding best practices and Infant Nutrition.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, organization, and flexibility.

  • Work independently & within a diverse team.

  • Ability to lead, instruct and counsel.

  • Clear understanding of confidentiality.

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

TB Screening, Police Clearance with vulnerable sector, Valid Driver’s Licence, Current registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association, Current CPR HCP, & WHMIS 2015 (within one month of hire).

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

Regular exposure to infectious agents, this position requires frequent driving and visiting clients in their homes, occasional lifting and moving of clients and equipment, & Ability to travel within Yukon up to 20%.
