Kardium’s mission is to deliver the best treatment for atrial fibrillation. To achieve this, we have developed The Globe® Pulsed Field System – we have a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.

We have now completed our pivotal clinical study, and our focus is on regulatory approvals and commercial launch. This is an exciting and significant milestone in our journey to bring this ground-breaking technology to patients.

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Mechanical System Team Lead to guide the development of our mechanical systems and manufacturing processes. This is a unique opportunity to lead a talented team in designing and delivering high-performance components and robust manufacturing solutions that support high-volume production.

There are 2 positions available with different project scopes:

Mechanical System Team Lead – Array

  • All array components (e.g., ribs, flexes, control lines, coupling, etc.)
  • Ribbon cable components
  • Shaft internal components (e.g., hypo tubes, coil tubes, etc.)
  • Catheter handle board

Mechanical System Team Lead – Sheath & Shaft

  • Sheath & catheter shaft tubes
  • Sheath handle, dilator and catheter loaders

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Meaningful work you will be a part of

The Mechanical System Team Lead will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Automation, Manufacturing Engineering, NPI, and Purchasing. You will be responsible for:

  • Helping define the strategic technical direction for the project to meet Kardium’s goals.
  • Leading a team of designers in developing product components from concept through to approval.
  • Review and approve product component drawings and documentation
  • Collaborating with automation and MFG ENG teams to develop robust manufacturing tools and processing technologies that enable high throughput and yield.
  • Review and approve manufacturing tool assembly models and drawings as applicable
  • Ensuring timely and well-scoped design reviews aligned with project phases.
  • Overseeing documentation of design notes, including rationale behind key design decisions.
  • Coordinating with NPI and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure timely and complete design transfer of manufacturing processes, in accordance with Kardium standards.
  • Working with the Purchasing team to select vendors for product components and enable early engagement.
  • Identifying high technical and schedule risk areas and working with management to resource and mitigate them effectively.
  • Providing regular status updates to management.
  • Offering guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Supporting ongoing production shadowing to ensure a successful transition to high-volume manufacturing.

What you bring to the team

You are a strategic thinker and a hands-on leader who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You bring:

  • A Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and manufacturing process development, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Proven leadership experience in guiding design teams and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing technologies, tooling, and process validation.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Compensation

Kardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more or less experience than listed above, the pay range will be adjusted.

As a permanent employee, you will also participate in Kardium’s stock option plan.

  • $120,000 - $152,000 (CAD Annually)
