Position: AI Solution Architect
Location: Canada (remote) OR 215 Garry Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba (onsite) Type: Contract Duration: 6 month – possibility to be extended up to 24 months Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST (7.25 hours per day)
Role Description
Manitoba is seeking an AI Solution Architect resource to work with business areas to identify opportunities where artificial intelligence, automation, and agent-based solutions can improve service delivery, reduce manual effort, or support better decision-making. The resource will be expected to engage directly with business users to understand needs, document requirements in plain language, assess whether AI is an appropriate solution, and design, build, test, and support practical solutions that meet Manitoba’s operational, privacy, security, and technology standards.
The resource should have experience translating business problems into working AI-enabled solutions, with most solutions expected to be developed using Microsoft Copilot Studio, agents, and related Microsoft 365 and Azure capabilities.
The resource will be responsible for moving solutions from concept through implementation, including discovery, solution design, prototype development, user feedback, testing, documentation, deployment support, and knowledge transfer to Manitoba staff.
The resource should have experience translating business problems into working AI-enabled solutions, with most solutions expected to be developed using Microsoft Copilot
Studio, agents, and related Microsoft 365 and Azure capabilities. The resource will be responsible for moving solutions from concept through implementation, including discovery, solution design, prototype development, user feedback, testing, documentation, deployment support, and knowledge transfer to Manitoba staff.
The resource must be able to work collaboratively with Manitoba’s security, privacy, architecture, and technology teams to ensure solutions are secure, appropriate for government use, and aligned with applicable policies and standards. This includes identifying risks, supporting security reviews, following approved development and deployment practices, and ensuring that solutions are designed with appropriate access controls, data handling, auditability, and operational support considerations.
Experience with Microsoft Foundry, Claude Code or other agentic development tools, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, Azure AI services, Power Platform, and modern software development practices would be considered beneficial. The resource should be comfortable working in an emerging technology environment where requirements may evolve and should be able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The following are minimum qualifications and/or experience for the delivery of the Services.
The Resource must have the following minimum qualifications or experience
Experience working directly with business users to gather, clarify, document, and validate business requirements for technology or AI-enabled solutions. Experience designing, building, testing, and implementing AI-enabled solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, agents, or comparable low-code/no-code AI development platforms. Experience facilitating workshops, discovery sessions, demonstrations, user testing, or adoption activities with business areas and technical teams. Experience integrating solutions with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure services, enterprise data sources, APIs, or other business systems. Experience producing clear solution documentation, including requirements, design decisions, testing results, deployment notes, user guidance, and knowledge transfer materials. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and move solutions from discovery through implementation in a complex enterprise environment.
It is preferred that the Resource has the following qualifications or experience: Experience with Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, or related Microsoft AI services. Experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or other agentic development tools used to support solution design, prototyping, development, testing, or documentation. Experience designing, implementing, or integrating Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers or similar patterns for securely connecting AI agents to tools, systems, and data sources. Experience with Power Platform components, including Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse, custom connectors, and environment governance. Relevant Microsoft certifications related to Azure, AI, Power Platform, security, or solution architecture would be considered an asset, but are not required.
