The Compensation & Benefits Analyst is responsible for delivering highly accurate, organized, and employee‑focused administration of the Firm’s benefit, compensation, and pension programs. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong vendor management skills, and the ability to manage and track complex billing processes with precision.

Major Responsibilities

Benefits Administration & Vendor Coordination

  • Administers all Firm benefit plans with a strong emphasis on accurate processing, benefit communication, and timely resolution of employee inquiries.
  • Serves as a primary contact for brokers and external vendors, ensuring smooth coordination and proactive follow‑up on outstanding issues.
  • Maintains comprehensive and well‑organized benefits documentation to support internal audits, compliance requirements, and ongoing program evaluation.

Benefits Billing & Payment Management

  • Manages end‑to‑end benefits billing, including receiving invoices, validating accuracy, reconciling discrepancies, and preparing payments.
  • Tracks all benefit-related invoices using highly organized methods to ensure payments are made on time and recorded accurately.
  • Conducts regular audits of vendor statements, employee enrollments, and payroll deductions to ensure alignment between Firm records and vendor systems.

Employee Communication & Support

  • Provides clear, timely, and employee‑friendly communication regarding benefit plan details, eligibility, enrollment, and updates.
  • Responds to day‑to‑day employee questions, conducting research when required to deliver accurate and complete information.
  • Supports the development and delivery of educational materials to enhance employee understanding of benefit offerings.

Pension & Retirement Plan Administration

  • Supports the administration of the Firm’s pension programs by preparing, tracking, and remitting contributions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Manages enrollment, termination, and retirement transactions, ensuring all related documentation is completed and filed correctly.
  • Maintains pension databases and benefits payment lists, including review of monthly and annual statements to ensure data integrity.
  • Assists with planning and delivering pension information sessions and distributing annual statements.

Wellness Program Coordination

  • Manages Firm wellness initiatives, including local events (e.g., lunch‑and‑learns, flu clinics) and national programs such as the 90 Day Challenge.
  • Ensures all wellness activities are organized, communicated effectively, and tracked for participation and program impact.

Compensation Support

  • Supports the annual salary and bonus cycle through data entry, report generation, document preparation, and payroll integration.
  • Completes cyclical and ad‑hoc compensation and benefits surveys, ensuring accurate submission, timely tracking of responses, and proper maintenance of results.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Acts as back‑up to the other Compensation & Benefits Analyst.
  • Performs other related duties as required to support the Compensation & Benefits function.

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

Community College diploma in Business or a related discipline is required and Certification in Human Resource Management (CHRP) and/or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designations are an asset. Three to five years’ experience working in a Human Resources environment ideally with exposure to compensation, pension, benefits, payroll and HRIS. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.

Knowledge and Skills

  • analytical skills, detail orientation and mathematical accuracy required for salary administration and job evaluation
  • thorough understanding of legislation as it applies to benefits, pension, payroll and compensation matters
  • developing knowledge of US benefits, 401(k) and payroll administration
  • solid understanding of employment legislation and its application to area of focus (e.g. disability management)
  • ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • time management skills to efficiently handle multiple demands
  • focused listening, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required to deal with a variety of individuals on a regular basis
  • strong HRIS experience
  • knowledge of office computer applications with advanced skills using Excel and File Maker

Compensation:

The range of expected compensation for this position is $65,000-$75,000 annually. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of factors including job-related knowledge, education, skills and experience.

We are currently working in a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a requirement to work primarily in the office and flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
