Position Overview

MediaKind is a PE-backed video technology company formed through the merger of two businesses and an active post-merger integration. This is a builder role: the combined opex model, three-statement financial plan, and integration cost tracking infrastructure do not yet exist in clean form. The Director, FP&A will build and own them — serving as the primary finance business partner to functional leaders, owning the cost side of the combined P&L, and providing the CFO and private equity sponsor with a single view of financial performance against plan including cash and covenant forecasting.

This role owns the spend side of the house, for which there are analysts that are assigned to each functional area. This remit also includes procurement operations oversight and an indirect procurement manager, given the interaction with vendor and spend management. The revenue forecast is owned by peers on the finance leadership team which will serve as inputs to this role’s P&L reporting and forecasting activities. This role's domain is functional BvA, headcount planning, 3-statement operating model & forecasting, 1x cost tracking, investor reporting, and procurement oversight.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Key Responsibilities

P&L Consolidation & Three-Statement Model

Owns the combined P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow model — single version of truth across both legacy entities. Produce monthly EBITDA-to-cash bridge, working capital analysis, and liquidity forecast. Drive the close-to-report cycle for opex and headcount in coordination with the Controller. Own the opex and consolidation model architecture in the enterprise planning system, including logic and output.

Annual Operating Plan & Forecasting

Lead the AOP process end-to-end planning calendar, department submissions, consolidation, ELT alignment, etc. Run quarterly reforecasts coordinated with the revenue forecast; produce integrated management reporting packages for the ELT and Board in a streamlined, ultimately automated manner through leverage of both systems and AI tools. Support long-range planning and scenario analysis.

Functional Spend Partnering & BvA

Serve as the point of escalation and strategic partner to functional leads, with analysts acting as primary Finance BPs. Deliver monthly holistic budget variance analysis and commentary with root-cause analysis to functional leaders. Own and enforce the Finance Approval Gate: no requisition is drafted and no PO is created without confirmed in-budget status from Finance — critical for spend discipline and cost tracking accuracy. Own the combined headcount plan by function, grade, and geography versus AOP; coordinate with HR on open requisition approvals and backfill decisions to validate and ensure budget compliance.

Integration Cost Tracking & Investor Reporting

Build and maintain integration cost tracking; reconcile actual results against transaction targets on a recurring basis. Provide financial control and account coding integrity over integration-related cost line items. Support the CFO on board materials, lender reporting, and covenant compliance inputs.

Procurement Operations Oversight

Oversee procurement operations for the combined organization supervising a procurement manager; consolidating inherited processes, systems, and vendor relationships from both legacy entities into a single operating model. Ensure no purchase order is issued without confirmed in-budget status and appropriate vendor terms. Assess and rationalize legacy procurement infrastructure — systems, contracts, and approval workflows — carried over from the merger, prioritizing near-term consolidation and risk areas. Establish procurement policies, controls, and vendor governance appropriate for a PE-backed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Demonstrable systems-thinking mindset and intellectual curiosity. Experience in leveraging AI in some capacity and proven desire to expand/explore ongoing practical use cases. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline. 8–12+ years of progressive FP&A experience, with direct ownership of full P&L consolidation and spend. PE-backed company experience required — familiarity with sponsor reporting cadence, covenant compliance, etc. Post-acquisition experience — you have built a budget process that did not exist yet, not just maintained one that did. Three-statement modeling fluency and command of EBITDA-to-cash bridge, working capital, and cash forecasting. CPM/EPM platform depth required — Adaptive Planning preferred; Oracle Fusion and/or NetSuite familiarity a plus. Exceptional communication skills — able to translate complexity into clear narrative for executive and board audiences.

Critical Success Measures

Success in this role will be demonstrated through: Combined opex model and three-statement forecast ownership, with real-time budgets tracked in Adaptive. Full ownership of budgeting process, reporting, functional partnership and all things spend-related. Monthly close book automated leveraging ERP, Adaptive and Claude or other AI tooling as appropriate. Integration cost tracking model built, owned, and reported to the private equity sponsor on the agreed cadence. Finance Approval Gate operating as a real control — HC requisitions and POs reviewed and properly allocated before drafting. Monthly BvA delivered within two business days of close, with narrative and root-cause analysis. Established strong cross-functional partnerships with functional leaders — Finance regarded as a true business partner. Procurement process is a clearly defined roadmap for further development.

Leadership Competencies

The successful candidate will demonstrate: Hands-on doer — not just a manager. Executive presence and sound judgment — credible with functional leaders and ELT without requiring CFO mediation. Strong business partnership and influencing skills — able to deliver a hard message clearly and directly. High integrity, accountability, and ownership — this role is the financial control point. The ability to lead through ambiguity and complexity — processes here are being built, not maintained. A continuous improvement mindset across the close cycle, the model, and the reporting cadence.

Preferred

Experience at a PE-backed technology, SaaS, hardware/software hybrid, or media technology business. Prior exposure to integration cost management, 1x/transaction cost tracking, or deal-model-versus-actual analysis. Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, or comparable BI/data platforms. Experience standing up or maturing procurement operations — P2P systems, vendor management, and approval workflows — in a similarly nascent or post-merger environment.
