Position Overview
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking an outgoing, experienced Advanced Analytics Consultant to support our Advanced Analytics Portfolio and advance Sunnybrook’s AI strategy. Reporting to the Manager, Decision Support and Advanced Analytics, the successful candidate will work closely with clinical and operational leaders, researchers, and senior leadership to identify and develop advanced analytics solutions that improve patient care, system performance, and resource utilization.
This role is ideal for an individual with strong technical skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights in a healthcare environment who is interested in gaining new and exciting experience.
Key Responsibilities
Analytics & Insights
- Identify, design, develop, and deliver advanced analytics solutions including predictive models, trend analyses, and performance dashboards
- Analyze large, complex healthcare datasets (clinical, administrative, financial, and operational) to identify insights and improvement opportunities
- Apply statistical and analytical techniques to support quality improvement, capacity planning, and strategic initiatives
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders to understand business questions and translate them into analytical requirements
- Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
Data Management & Tools
- Extract, transform, and validate data from multiple source systems (e.g., clinical systems, administrative databases, data warehouses)
- Help build and maintain dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics tools (e.g., Power BI or similar platforms)
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and adherence to privacy and security standards
Project & Advisory Support

Contribute to cross-functional advanced analytics initiatives

Provide expert advice on analytics methodologies, metrics, and best practices

Document analytical methods, assumptions, and processes to ensure transparency and sustainability
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Ideally 3–5 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data science, preferably in healthcare or the public sector
- Strong proficiency in predictive modelling, statistical concepts, machine learning, and other data science related concepts
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python and Power BI for data extraction, transformation and visualization
- Solid understanding of statistical concepts and analytical techniques
- Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly and effectively
Preferred

Master’s degree in a relevant field

Experience working with healthcare data (e.g., hospital administrative data, clinical data, population health datasets)

Strong understanding of the Ontario health care system

Experience supporting quality improvement, operational performance, or research initiatives
