Join our team as a safety-focused Power Engineering student and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced plant environment. If you’re enrolled in an accredited 3rd or 4th Class program, this is your chance to grow your technical skills, sharpen your troubleshooting, and learn from experienced professionals while helping keep operations safe and efficient. Minimum Requirements: Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary education program for 3rd or 4th Class Power Engineering, or recently graduated but requiring steam time Alberta Steam Ticket (ABSA) required A proven safety and environmental mindset Strong troubleshooting skills An aptitude to continually seek knowledge and understanding; you strive to understand the systems, processes, and hazards in and around the workplace A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record Responsibilities: Perform routine checks and testing to ensure smooth and efficient operation in your work area Ensure that plant-related issues, beyond the scope of this position, are brought to the attention of your mentor in a timely fashion Prepare and complete daily area logs and communicate significant changes and findings Be involved with equipment preparation for maintenance and returning equipment to service when required Maintain housekeeping in your assigned unit at a high level. Help ensure the safety of personnel working within the assigned area and ensure all safety policies are followed during operations Location and other Key details: This position is for a 6 month term (depending on amount of steam time required by the practicum student) You will work out of our Firebag site on a fly-in, fly-out schedule; 8 days in, 6 days off You will be working a rotating 12-hour shift schedule Think we are a fit?
