About The Role Canadian Blood Services if looking for a Temporary Full Time Laboratory Assistant Team Lead Production to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations West Team in Vancouver .
Formula for success
- Provides orientation and training to the Laboratory assistants of an assigned section in the preparation and processing of blood and blood products. Monitors completed work to ensure that procedures are followed.
- Supervises Laboratory assistants by performing such duties as coordinating work assignments, evaluating employee performance and determining related training and orientation requirements.
- Prepares blood components such as platelets and plasma according to Canadian Blood Services Standard Operating Procedures and Center Operating Procedures.
- Reads and records temperature of storage units in department; alerts supervisor or designate as per Standard Operating Procedure and/or Center Operating Procedure.
- Performs preventative maintenance as required by Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assists the Supervisor in the development, evaluation and documentation of new procedures as directed.
Desired Education And Skills
- Grade 12, completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program plus related experience including one year in a supervisory capacity OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize workload effectively.
- Ability to supervise and teach/train.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
