PERMANENT FULL-TIME TRANSPORTATION CLERK

at the

MUSKOKA EDUCATION CENTRE, in Bracebridge

This permanent, full-time (12 month) position is available starting immediately. This position is replacing an existing position. The purpose of this position is to support the effective operations of Transportation Services through the ongoing coordination of transportation routing within the Board and partnering Boards in addition to providing customer service and clerical support.

Duties/Responsibilities

Route planning using specialized routing software which includes the coordination of transportation activities such as mapping of bus routes, assigning new registrations, processing child care, custody, out of boundary and other forms. Ensure all transportation assignments adhere to the Board's transportation Policy and Procedures and individual operator contracts. Receive and investigate complaints and inquiries from bus operators, school staff, parents, municipalities and the public and make an appropriate response, ensuring all calls are logged. Maintenance of database; assembling data from school databases and other sources required for route planning, enter and accurately update information (i.e. student demographics) in route software Assist with required route and ridership reconciliation for operator payment. Perform clerical duties which includes filing (electronic & hard copy), tracking information (misconduct forms, operator and driver information), data entry, preparing and issuing correspondence. Maintain confidentiality. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills

Secondary School Diploma plus additional specialized training courses (e.g. computer software) Two years related experience plus one year on the job Preferred GIS/transportation routing software and Project management experience Ability to accurately read and utilize digital maps Proficient computer skills - Microsoft and Google applications including Gmail, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Board software Effective communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to work cooperatively with others including deescalation strategies Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize Strong attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Understanding of board policies and procedures and operator contracts Strong customer service skills Geographical knowledge Trillium Lakelands DSB area is an asset.

Hours of work: 35 hours per week - Monday to Friday - 12 month position

Hourly Wage: $26.79 (min.) - $28.74 (max)

Point Band: 8 (Unionized position)
