##Description
This role is responsible for assisting in the development and deployment of operational technology at Purolator courier including, mobility, ARC, mail reweigh and soft automation projects. This role works as part of the technology development team to ensure the proper maintenance of existing technologies and the development of new technologies. The Operations Technologist will be involved in other technical projects relating to Trak3, mobility, End to End Scanning and 100% induction.
##Specific Accountabilities
- Maintenance and repair on ARC technologies and other specialized equipment
- Develop and analyze reports to improve performance
- Work with technology development team on development and deployment of new devices
- Assist in trouble shooting of technology issues
- Work with technology team on ARC and Trak3 related projects
- Manage various technology projects within Tech Dev
- Test new products/programs on the mobile scanning units. Research new technologies that can enhance and improve scanner capabilities
##Qualifications
- Experience in warehouse and inventory management environments, with an understanding of how accurate inventory control and efficient material handling support operational uptime and service reliability.
- Exemplifies and consistently demonstrates our core competencies of communication, innovation, change management, relationship building and leadership
- Ability to work in team environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills
- Strong technical background and analytics to understand propriety components and assist with trouble shooting.
- At least 1 year experience with repairs/upgrades on technical equipment
- Understanding of cube and reweigh process within the courier industry
- Experience with overhead scanning and cubing technologies
- Understanding of automation in courier industry
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and Software Development Methodologies
- Ability to work flexible hours (including weekend work)
- Ability to travel (personal vehicle required) primarily within Southwestern Ontario
- Previous experience associated with Transportation/Logistics and express movement of goods and mobility equipment
- Ability to lift heavy objects
Education:
- Post-Secondary education in Engineering/Electronics/Technology or Computer Science or related experience and technical skills
**Language Requirement:**Proficiency in English is required for this position due to the frequent communications that must be conducted in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.
