Unit Summary:
THP is a Regional Cardiac Program providing services and care in collaboration with our Regional Partners. The 2J Cardiovascular Unit is a 36-bed unit focused on post operation care for cardiac and vascular surgery patients. This includes progression pathway and support education to discharge.
Position Summary:
Working as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure high quality care.
Responsible and accountable for decisions and actions in the provision and management of nursing care for cardiac patients.
Practitioner, consultant and educator for cardiac patient groups and health team members.
Responsible and accountable for the provision of nursing care in accordance with the standards of nursing practice and THP Best Practices Protocols.
Qualifications:
THP is committed to internal talent, and therefore priority will be given to internal applicants.
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO
- Cardiovascular Surgery experience is required and would be an asset
- Successfully completed Coronary Care 1 course or committed to completing the course within the next six months
- Successful completion of a Cardiac/ECG rhythm interpretation course
- Patient physical assessment course preferred
- Highly effective decision making, problem solving and organizational skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- Experience with patient centered and partnership care models
- Reliable and flexible individual who is willing to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team environment Positive attendance and work record essential
