Applicants must reside and be legally eligible to work in Ontario. This is a Regular Full-Time Opportunity Type: New Join a dynamic HR team driving innovation, recognition, and strategic impact at Women’s College Hospital. As the Specialist, Human Resources, you'll lead the Top 100 Employer Application and drive our Long Services Awards a key part of our Recognition Program, while supporting key departmental initiatives. Using your expertise, you will help refine HR processes and shape a future-ready, people-focused workplace.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the preparation and submission of Women’s College Hospital’s Top 100 employer application, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and showcasing the organization
  • Oversee the execution of the Long Service Awards within the broader Recognition Program, incorporating feedback to enhance and expand future program offerings
  • Conduct research and analysis of HR data, synthesizes key insights and prepares information to support HR initiatives, as assigned
  • Provide data and supporting information for collective bargaining, economic surveys and disclosures, committees, etc.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal Human Resources team to support operational excellence and compliance
  • Identify and recommend innovative recruitment strategies to source, attract, and secure top talent, supporting effective onboarding and long-term talent pipeline development
  • Analyze Collective Agreements and relevant legislation (including Human Rights, ESA, AODA, Health and Safety etc.) and internal WCH policies and processes to identify organizational risk and develop effective mitigation strategies and collaborate on Standard Operating Procedures related to such
  • Contribute to the enhancement of HR processes and support the implementation of related HR technology initiatives
  • Collaborate with team to evaluate talent needs, and contribute to the development and improvement of recruitment and workforce planning strategies to close talent gaps
  • Provide assistance in employee and labour relations activities, including grievance handling, disciplinary processes, and union interactions with ONA and SEIU etc.
  • As an overarching HR generalist, provide flexible support across key HR functions such as full-cycle talent acquisition, compensation and benefit administration, and employee/labour, during peak periods or as needed

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management, Business and or a related program
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience of proven generalist experience in human resources, in a high-volume unionized environment
  • CHRL/CHRP designation, an asset
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Sound knowledge of compensation and benefits and employee/labour relations principles in a unionized environment
  • Full-cycle talent acquisition experience in a unionized environment
  • Advanced experience MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience with recognition and workforce planning programs and initiatives, preferred
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills required
  • Excellent multi-tasking, time management, organizational skills and strong critical thinking abilities
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation i.e., Collective Agreements, Human Rights, Employments Standards Act etc.
  • Familiarity with policy and procedure development an asset
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Proven attendance and punctuality
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
