About the role

Overview At KPMG, you’ll join a team of diverse and dedicated problem solvers, connected by a common cause turning insight into opportunity for clients and communities around the world.

As part of its class action management service offering, KPMG is currently undertaking mandates in which it acts as Settlement Administrator for class actions of various sizes. This role involves numerous responsibilities including, among others establishing a communication plan with the assistance of partners, creating a website and a call center, managing and evaluating incoming claims, distributing payments to claimants, and producing releases and reports for the parties and the court.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team providing front-line exposure to the operational intricacies of a complex and multi-faceted project.

What You Will Do We are seeking bilingual candidates (in both written and spoken communication) who are dynamic, motivated by challenges, hold an undergraduate university degree, and possess relevant project management experience to join the class action management team.

The work involves the following activities

  • Assisting the principal project manager in the planning and execution of assignments.
  • Reviewing documents related to settlements and identifying the administrator's responsibilities.
  • Planning administration assignments with the help of team members and partners.
  • Coordinating the execution of tasks and responsibilities with partners and other team members.
  • Processing and/or supervising the processing of claims received by mail, email, and online submissions based on established criteria.
  • Managing communications with parties and members of the class action through emails and phone calls, including responding to member inquiries.
  • Completing various tasks related to claims administration, such as organizing documents and files, researching and verifying documentation, etc.
  • Evaluating claims using a claims evaluation platform, examining and analyzing claims and supporting documentation, verifying the accuracy and completeness of submitted documents, and contributing to the validation process by applying established processes and criteria.
  • Transmitting complex cases identifying complex claims and forwarding them to the appropriate levels for further evaluation.
  • Conducting tests on updates or new functionalities of a portal or technological tool, according to an established test plan.
  • Contributing to the preparation of reports and correspondence notes, as needed.
  • Delivering high-quality work within deadlines that meets engagement requirements and KPMG's quality standards.

What You Bring To The Role

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with precision, attention to detail, and have a good sense of judgment.
  • Comfortable with technological tools, including word processing software (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), presentation (such as PowerPoint). Familiarity with analytical tools or specialized software is an asset.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team; ease in establishing relationships.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including active listening, and the ability to interact with clients, including vulnerable individuals.
  • Great discretion and a keen sense of confidentiality; you will be required to work with sensitive personal information.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and exercise judgment, as well as analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to maintain a sustained work pace to accomplish a set number of tasks on a weekly basis.
  • Proactive and initiative-driven you may be asked to provide feedback on certain established processes and suggest modifications or improvements based on your experience.
  • Experience in project management
  • Ability to obtain a reliability status following a security clearance conducted by the Government of Canada. You must have lived in Canada for the last 5 years without spending more than 6 consecutive months abroad. KPMG will assist you in the process of obtaining the reliability status, which is valid for 10 years.
