Senior Front End Software Developer (Contract) – Public Sector Client | Hybrid | Toronto, ON
We are currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Front End Software Developer for a long-term contract with our public sector client based in Toronto, Ontario. This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to high-profile digital transformation initiatives that impact thousands of users across the province.

Position Summary: Job Title: Senior Front End Software Developer Client: Public Sector Location: Toronto, ON Contract Duration: August 3rd, 2026- February 2nd, 2027 Possible Extension: Additional 6 Months Working Hours: 7 hours/day, Monday to Friday Compensation: $85–$100/hour (depending on skills and experience)
About the Opportunity : Our client is modernizing enterprise applications and digital services using contemporary front-end technologies. The successful consultant will collaborate closely with business analysts, UX/UI designers, architects, back-end developers, QA specialists, and project managers to deliver secure, scalable, and user-friendly web applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for senior developers who enjoy building enterprise-grade applications and influencing technical design decisions.
Key Responsibilities : The successful candidate will: Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise-level web applications. Develop responsive and accessible user interfaces using modern front-end technologies. Build reusable UI components and scalable front-end architecture. Collaborate with UX designers to translate wireframes into high-quality user experiences. Consume and integrate RESTful APIs and web services. Optimize application performance for speed, scalability, and usability. Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-documented code. Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews. Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers when required. Identify technical risks and recommend appropriate solutions. Troubleshoot application issues and provide production support. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming. Work closely with QA teams to resolve defects and improve application quality. Ensure compliance with accessibility (AODA/WCAG), security, and coding standards. Support CI/CD deployment processes and DevOps practices.
Required Technical Skills : The ideal candidate should have strong experience with most of the following technologies: Front-End Technologies JavaScript (ES6+) TypeScript HTML5 CSS3 SCSS/SASS Bootstrap Responsive Web Design Frameworks Angular (preferred) React Vue.js APIs & Integration REST APIs JSON AJAX Development Tools Git Azure DevOps Jira Visual Studio Code npm Webpack Node.js Testing Jasmine Karma Jest Cypress Selenium Development Methodologies Agile Scrum DevOps CI/CD
Preferred Qualifications : Candidates with experience in one or more of the following will be highly regarded: Public Sector or Government projects Enterprise application development Cloud environments (Azure preferred) Accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, AODA) Secure software development practices Performance optimization Component-based architecture Micro Frontend architecture State management (NgRx, Redux)
Soft Skills : We are looking for someone who demonstrates: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams Strong organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities Attention to detail Self-motivation and accountability
Nice to Have : Ontario Public Sector experience Experience working with large enterprise systems Experience with digital transformation initiatives Experience mentoring developers Azure Cloud exposure DevOps experience
