The Town of Stony Plain is seeking the services of a temporary full-time Development Assistant. Reporting to the Development Supervisor, this position will handle both administration and technical tasks, including reviewing and issuing trade permits, screening development and building permit applications, generating permit services reports, and scheduling follow-up inspections. They are also responsible for facilitating the business licensing process, including mobile vendors. This position will support the technical staff within the department in preparing and editing compliance certifications, correspondence, and reports, maintenance of statistical data sheets, and providing excellent customer service.
We are seeking a candidate who:
- Demonstrates familiarity with the Municipal Government Act, statutory documents, Land Use Bylaws, Safety Codes Act, and Permit Regulations;
- Is extremely detail orientated with the ability to conduct research to qualify results with accuracy;
- Has sound judgement and is highly ethical;
- Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an aptitude for problem solving; and
- Has the ability to foster positive relationships with various stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization.
Education and Experience:
· Post-secondary education in Business Administration or similar discipline;
· Preference given to candidates holding an Applied Land Use Planning Certificate;
· Minimum 3 years related experience; municipal experience is preferred; and
· Experience with land use planning, development, or engineering is an asset.
