Duties:

Provide support to the Associate Registrar, Records and Registration Systems and the Records department within the Office of the Registrar:

  • Implement changes and maintain VIU's Application for Admission on EducationPlannerBC
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues related to registration systems
  • Test registration system changes and new functionality
  • Assist with training system users on registration system changes or new functionality
  • Coordinate access to authorized users of the student record system
  • Create and run customized reports from the student record system
  • Create distribution lists and send bulk emails to specific groups of students
  • Run standardized reports according to assigned schedules

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution. Five years related experience working with systems and processes. Two years related experience with a student record system or similar large relational database. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Understanding of post-secondary admissions and registration procedures.
  • Public speaking training or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience or formal training in technical writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate education that included components of computing science or information systems.

  • Experience with MS Access.

  • Familiarity with and experience using VIU's Student Record System, or a similar system.

  • Knowledge of VIU's admissions and registration procedures.
