Job Details
The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Engineering department as a GIS Analyst, Transportation.
Reporting to the Manager, Transportation, this position will be responsible for managing geospatial data systems and databases, integrating transportation assets and operational information into GIS platforms to produce detailed mapping and support strategic analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee asset and transportation data management systems, ensuring accurate, up-to-date infrastructure datasets and seamless integration with City systems to support capital planning, maintenance programs, and operational decision-making.
- Manage GIS databases and mapping systems for City transportation programs, developing integrated schemas and data workflows to support asset classification, inspection tracking, and lifecycle reporting across municipal platforms.
- Develop and maintain web-based and mobile GIS applications through cross-functional collaboration, performing data updates and quality assurance to ensure accurate, functional spatial tools for internal decision-making and public engagement.
- Create visual maps, drawings, and process flow diagrams to support strategic reporting and public communication campaigns for city-wide construction, maintenance, and development projects.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, or related field with 5 years experience, or 2-year Post Secondary diploma with 7 years experience. Preference in Civil or Drafting Technology Engineering.
- Experience working with ESRI ArcGIS Suite, Enterprise Maintenance and Asset Management Modules, database modelling and concepts, data creation, data usage, maintenance, web and online mapping.
- Proficiency in GIS software, applications and database management systems.
- Knowledge of City Transportation Bylaw, Traffic Bylaw, and Transportation Master Plan or Mobility Strategy.
- Strong time management, organizational abilities, and experience with web and online mapping applications.
Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
Hours of Work
- We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).
- Benefit from flexible work hours by adjusting your start and end times by 30 or 60 minutes around our core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Compensation
- The salary ranges from $83,549 - $ 102,830 per year, including a comprehensive benefits package with a flexible spending account, pension plan, and accrued paid vacation starting at 3 weeks per year. -Learn more about our benefits here: Employee Benefits Booklet
- Candidates not meeting the full qualifications may be considered for a development opportunity at a lower classification and salary.
