IT Support Analyst Student

Are you a current student pursuing Computer Science or Information Technology? Do you enjoy tackling technical challenges and assisting others with their tech needs? We are #hiring an IT Support Student for a 4-month work term commencing May 2026, based out of our Calgary head office. If you’re a proactive, service-oriented individual with a strong interest in hardware, software, networking, and end-user support, we want to hear from you!
You will provide both onsite and remote technical support to BURNCO staff, acting as a key contact for troubleshooting, IT maintenance, and supporting broader technology initiatives. This role is ideal for someone passionate about IT operations, eager to build hands-on skills, and excited to work within a collaborative environment.
What You Will Be Doing
- Provide responsive onsite and remote IT support to end-users (hardware, software, mobile, peripherals, VOIP)
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Support day-to-day operations of IT systems and services
- Assist with onboarding / offboarding processes including user set up and deprovisioning
- Perform routine maintenance and inventory management across multiple sites
- Maintain and update the IT knowledge base and documentation
- Support and maintain IT assets, including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, etc.
- Create and manage user accounts in Active Directory and Office 365
- Work with ServiceNow to manage incidents, requests, and change tracking
- Collaborate with second and third-tier teams for escalations and project work
- Participate in equipment setup, configuration, and vendor coordination
- Travel to BURNCO sites to support as needed
- Maintain clean and organized server and equipment rooms
- Support emergency response efforts, including after-hours when required
- Carry out additional duties as directed by the IT team
What We Would Like From You
- Currently pursuing post-secondary education in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working independently and in a team environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Windows OS, and mobile platforms (iOS / Android)
- Exposure to Active Directory, Citrix, and basic networking concepts would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn ServiceNow platform
- A self-motivated attitude with a strong customer service mindset
- Willingness to travel to industrial work sites and lift moderately heavy equipment
- Passionate about learning and applying IT best practices in a professional setting
Location and other key details:
- This is a 4-month temporary position commencing May 2026, based out of our Calgary head office: 5055 11th St NE, Calgary, Alberta
- The hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week; on call availability may be required
- Occasional travel to multiple BURNCO sites is expected; candidates must be comfortable working in an industrial environment where PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required
- Manual dexterity is essential for operating computer equipment, tools, and related components
- Must be capable of lifting and transporting moderately heavy items such as desktop computers, switches, UPS units, and other peripherals
