About the role

Convergint is looking for a Project Manager to support the capital projects team on the QEII Halifax project. As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing and directing, field installation and start-up of assigned deliverables of the project. You will also ensure these deliverables are effectively executed within budgeted cost and time schedules and ensure positive cash flow.

  • This position will support the QEII project in Halifax.

Who You Are The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in ensuring quality delivery in the site deployment as well as in the areas of document control, change management and commissioning practices on a number of construction technology projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Deployment: Ensure the highest quality deployment to meet customer and specification requirements.
  • Document Control: Oversee and manage document control on-site to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor all work for compliance with relevant standards and ensure required quality levels are met.
  • Inspection and Testing: Implement and manage inspection and testing plans to verify the quality and compliance of work performed.
  • Deficiency Management: Track and resolve any deficiencies identified during the project lifecycle.
  • Change Control: Manage project changes from identification through to completion, ensuring all changes are documented and approved.
  • Schedule Management: Develop and monitor project schedules to ensure timely completion of all project phases.
  • Progress Documentation: Document project progress, delays, and impacts to keep stakeholders informed and address any issues that arise.
  • Commission Process Development: Develop and implement commissioning processes to ensure compliance and successful project completion.
  • Work Coordination: Create and maintain a coordinated plan of work to ensure schedule adherence and efficient resource allocation.
  • Project Meetings: Run and attend project meetings as required to facilitate communication and collaboration among project stakeholders.
  • Financial Projections: Prepare monthly projections for project spending to ensure accurate budgeting and financial management.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Coordinate and support subcontractors to ensure their work is completed to the highest quality and within the project timeline.
  • Records Management: Maintain comprehensive project records, including all relevant documentation and communication.
  • Design Coordination: Ensure design compliance and coordinate design changes as necessary to meet project requirements.
  • Resource Coordination: Work closely with other internal departments to ensure resources are available to meet construction and commissioning schedules.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven experience in project management, preferably in high risk, capital technology-related projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in various project management software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Professional Project Management certification or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of eight years of previous, relevant engineering, field service or project management experience preferred
  • Minimum of five years of project supervisory experience required
  • Experience in one or more of the following industries preferred: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation
