Job Description: Certified Welder– CNC Machine Shop (Railway Components)
Location: Argyle, MB
Department: Manufacturing / Fabrication
Reports To: Shop Supervisor / Welding Lead
EmploymentType: Full-Time
Shift: Flexible shifts - Monday to Friday
Position Summary
We are seeking a Certified Stick Welder to join our Winnipeg-based CNC machine shop specializing in railway component fabrication. This role requires proficiency in SMAW, GMAW and a valid CWB or Red Seal welding certification. The successful candidate will work with heavy-duty steel components, interpret technical drawings, and collaborate with machinists and quality control teams to ensure precision and safety in all welds.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform SMAW and MIG welding on steel components used in railway applications.
- Interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
- Operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds to ensure compliance with CWB/Red Seal standards.
- Collaborate with CNC machinists and fabricators to maintain production flow.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Assist in setup and positioning of components prior to welding.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on welding equipment.
- Accurately document work and report issues to supervisors.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid welding certification required: CWB certification
- Manganese stick welding experience would be an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of stick welding experience in an industrial setting.
- Familiarity with CNC machine processes is an asset.
- Experience in railway or heavy industrial fabrication preferred.
- Strong understanding of welding techniques, metallurgy, and safety protocols.
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials.
