Warehouse & Logistics Manager Role | Brantford, Ontario
Position Description
This position will be based in Brantford, Ontario. Above all, the Warehouse Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient movement and storage of product and materials.
Core Responsibilities:
Safety
- Protection of employees' health and safety by meeting legislative requirements, providing instruction regarding safety procedures and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and plant safety rules.
- Must actively contribute to the safe working environment.
- Promptly report and investigate any accidents/ incidents and assist in the implementation of corrective actions. This includes unsafe conditions or activities.
- Use or wear equipment and PPE (personal protective equipment) required to conduct the task/ activity in a safe manner
Workplace Hazards
- Full knowledge of workplace and hazards within the plant and warehouse.
- Manage appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment relevant to the tasks in the area.
Quality
- Knowledge of product quality and food safety procedures.
- Must actively contribute to all the quality related training and complete assessments.
- Monitors product and packaging to ensure they meet or exceed all quality standards and corrective actions are taken promptly upon discovery of an issue.
- Prioritizes Consumer Safety by adhering to the strict Food Safety and GMP requirements set by the company and may halt activities when there is potential risk for noncompliance.
Operational Activities
- Provide leadership, training, motivation and direction to all warehouse staff.
- Coach and develop employees, including performance management, training, and disciplinary action.
- Continue to develop and improve the warehouse training and onboarding plan for all new warehouse members in support of tracking individual performance as well as team member individual contribution to KPI results
- Supervise joint work relation between Scheduling/planning team and production operations team to make sure materials needed for production are in-house ready to go.
- Schedule and manage staffing including recruitment and selection.
- Create and implement best practice programs, processes, and procedures.
- Complete and approve payroll timesheets.
- Prepare reports and metrics for as a member of the Plant Leadership Team.
- Manage external suppliers, vendors and providers as it relates to the Warehouse
- Operate within budget parameters
- Resolve day-to-day issues with a positive attitude and urgency for the success of the operation
- Manage all physical warehouse activities, including processing, packaging, and storage of supplies, materials, and ingredients.
- SMED for warehouse activities
- OPL Creation Improvements
- Works on continuous improvement projects both individually and on teams.
- Must be SAP specialist, including receiving, inventory movements, goods receipt, and delivery
- Participating in managing inventory counts weekly, monthly as required by the business
Environmental
- Follows proper containment and reporting procedures and escalates any environmental release as soon as they are known, this includes releases to internal / external drains.
- Reduce costs due to waste and minimize impact to health, safety and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct management of waste and hazardous materials.
- Must actively contribute to an eco-efficient environment including but not limited to disposing of materials in the appropriate waste streams.
Problem Solving

An awareness of how to identify, prioritize and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence. Will participate in RCA as required for quality and safety issues.
Minimum Requirements:

5-10 years' experience in the manufacturing environment required; food production environment preferred.

GMP and HACCP knowledge
-
Lean trained for CI improvement projects (5S auditor, center lining)

Leadership and conflict management
-
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

Skilled in MS Office products.

Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
