Job Summary
The Bindery & Customer Service Assistant provides administrative and bindery support for the day-to-day operations in Printing Services and Blink. This role requires working independently, occasionally guiding others, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment, are essential for interacting with faculty, staff, students, and the public. Customer Service Assistants must have strong clerical and organizational skills, knowledge of printing processes, and the ability to quickly learn specialized software, including PrintSmith Management Information Software.
Job Requirements
Experience:
This role requires a minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in a print-oriented customer service, or similar setting, preferably in a post-secondary or institutional environment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing the principles of truth, reconciliation and respect, equity diversity and inclusion, and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail, time management, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities with strong administrative and organizational skills in document management, invoicing, and applying policies and procedures.
- Expertise in printing and finishing processes, paper stocks and weights, production management, and Print Management Information Software, with hands-on experience using a wide range of printing and finishing equipment and techniques.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems, and other systems such as FAST, Banner FMIS, and related applications to support both production and administrative work.
- Superior communication skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively, and to interact effectively with diverse populations and all levels of university personnel.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information, provide excellent customer service, and consistently deliver high-quality work on time.
Assets/Preferences:
- Working knowledge of PrintSmith Vision and Digital Storefront.
- Experience with UVic information systems.
