As a leading residential developer, we take pride in our craftsmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering outstanding value to our homeowners. As we continue to expand our projects and land pipeline, we are looking for an experienced Controller with industry experience to strengthen our financial operations and support informed decision-making across all development phases.
Position Overview The Controller will oversee all financial and accounting operations for the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong leadership skills and experience in construction or real estate development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, payroll, job costing, and general ledger.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and variance reports for multiple developments.
- Implement and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
- Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting.
- Support executive leadership with strategic financial planning, cash flow management, and cost analysis.
- Oversee reporting and relationships with our Chartered Banks and other Financial Institutions.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff; foster a culture of accuracy and accountability.
- Collaborate with construction managers, project managers, and sales teams to ensure financial visibility across all projects.
Qualifications
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in construction or residential development.
- Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition.
- Proficiency with construction accounting software
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
