We are looking for a Manager, FP&A with a curious, commercial and analytical mindset who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will lead a team of 4 Analysts that provide financial analysis, budget, and KPI reporting to Northland’s business units. In this role, your remit will be to support Northland’s business units – spanning hotels, restaurants, resorts, construction, real estate development and more. You will be a key leader within the Data & Analytics team, the broader Finance team, and the organization as a whole.

This position will be based in our Vancouver Support Centre. You will report to the Director of Data, Analytics, & Automation and will be part of the broader Data & Analytics and Finance teams within Northland.

Who you are:

  • An experienced FP&A leader with 10+ years of progressive work experience in Financial Planning and Analysis roles; ideally within large, complex organizations and exposure to both OpEx and CapEx planning.
  • A strong people focused leader who can build credibility quickly with both internal team members and operational stakeholders – you will work with stakeholders throughout all levels of the organization and the ability to build trust with junior to executive level team members will be paramount.
  • An independent go-getter who can roll up their sleeves, work through challenges, and persevere until the desired goal is achieved. Demonstrates the ability to lead and manage projects from inception to finalization.
  • A business partner and effective communicator who can speak both Finance and Operations and convey complex ideas simply and effectively
  • A technically inclined leader with a solid understanding of all the technical components that make-up a strong financial analyst - key strengths should be in data modeling, budgeting, and forecasting. Exhibits advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling. Eager to learn and master new software. Experience with enterprise level tools such as Power BI, Planful, Microsoft D365, and SnowFlake is an asset.
  • A detail-oriented professional who demonstrates strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.

What you will do:

  • Lead and manage a team of 4 Financial analysts who act as business partners to Northland’s core business lines.
  • Own and manage the annual budget process from start to finish and ensure it is delivered on time with high quality and completeness. This task spans budgets from the individual operational location level to the full consolidated Northland wide budget.
  • Own period-end financial reports including the distribution of P&Ls, variance analysis, ad-hoc reporting, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with the Data Engineering Team lead to deliver data driven products/ solutions to the business.
  • Partner with leaders across Finance and the business to deliver analysis, reporting, and insights to enable the business to make informed decisions, optimize resources, and maximize.
  • Utilize BI tools to develop dashboards to drive business analytics and insights, that stimulates growth and improves financial performance.
  • Provide inputs on FP&A function vision and development strategy in terms of people, process and technology. Implement best practices and help further drive Northland’s maturity in the FP&A space.
  • Monitor financial results compared to prior year, budget, and forecast, conducting in-depth analysis to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Northland's operations, IT, and finance processes to become an effective Finance Business Partner.
