People Operations Coordinator Co-op - Summer Term (4 Months)

PEOPLE OPERATIONS COORDINATOR CO-OP About TelMAX Inc. Based in York Region, telMAX is a private equity-backed all fibre digital infrastructure platform that provides a 21st century alternative to traditional telecom networks. Recognized for four consecutive years as Canada’s Fastest ISP with an industry-leading net promoter score of over fifty, telMAX is continuing its rapid growth plan to bring its all-fibre network to residential and business customers across Southern Ontario.
Your Position & How You Will Contribute We’re seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Co-op Student to join our People Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain real-world HR experience in areas such as recruitment, onboarding, HR administration, and employee engagement. You’ll support various HR functions and projects, contributing to the development and implementation of initiatives that enhance the employee experience and support business growth.
Responsibilities & Key Duties Recruitment & Onboarding Support
- Post job openings and assist with resume screening.
- Schedule interviews and coordinate communications with candidates and hiring managers.
- Help prepare onboarding materials and organize new hire orientation sessions.
- Set up employee profiles in ADP and ensure documentation is complete.
HR Administration
- Maintain digital and physical employee files.
- Assist with the preparation of HR reports and dashboards.
- Help update and organize HR policies and process documentation.
- Support day-to-day HR transactions including employee changes and updates in ADP.
Employee Experience & Engagement
- Support internal communication efforts (emails, intranet updates, employee memos).
- Help coordinate team events, celebrations, and employee recognition activities.
- Participate in various HR-related committees (e.g., DEI, Social Committee, JHSC).
Compliance & Research
- Assist in ensuring HR documentation aligns with federal employment regulations and company policies.
- Conduct research on HR best practices and employment law updates to support ongoing compliance and improvement projects.
Experience & Skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Excellent analytical, writing, and organizational skills
- Keen attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Highly professional and diplomatic with a positive, proactive attitude
- Ability to take initiative and work effectively with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Adaptable and resourceful in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Driven by curiosity, problem-solving, and continuous learning
- Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment
Education
- Must be currently enrolled in an official co-operative education program at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution
- Pursuing a diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Eligibility to work full-time during the co-op term as per school guidelines
