About the Role
The System Analyst will be a Digital Insights team member, responsible for responsible for designing and implementing cloud-based data solutions using various technologies such as Fabric, Fabric Data Factory, DevOps and SQL and require strong skills in data modelling, data ingestion pipelines (Microsoft Fabric), and SQL development. Reporting to the Director, Digital Insights, the Senior System Analyst will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the business needs and comply with the established standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement data models to support analytics and reporting requirements.
- Develop and optimize data ingestion pipelines in Microsoft Fabric, ensuring efficient and secure data flow.
- Build and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures for performance and reliability.
- Develop cloud-based systems and software integrations using Microsoft Fabric, Data Factory, SQL and DevOps.
- Conduct thorough testing to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with external vendors and internal teams to configure and implement new features and applications.
- Analyze both functional and non-functional requirements to provide accurate estimates for development efforts.
- Stay informed about the latest Fabric features, updates, and enhancements to recommend improvements and optimizations.
- Engage with Citizen Developers and Power Users, offering guidance on best practices to enhance their effective use of Fabric platform.
- Document technical processes and maintain up-to-date documentation.
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, including data modeling, SQL development (T-SQL, PL/SQL), and data ingestion pipelines.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Power BI, Purview, and DevOps.
- University or College degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of modern data architecture and integration patterns.
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and commitment to development best practices (naming conventions, error handling, logging, commenting).
- Practical knowledge of data analytics and proficiency with analytics tools to support informed decision-making.
- Proficiency in creating and managing SQL stored procedures (intermediate to senior level).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies and concepts.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
- Microsoft Fabric and/or Microsoft Power BI will be considered as an asset.
- Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Alteryx)
Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.
