Weldco Heavy Industries (WHI) is a large steel fabrication and repair facility located in the Fort McKay Caribou Energy Park. Strategically positioned in the heart of Alberta’s Oil Sands, WHI is able to effectively meet the requirements for large steel repair, assembly and refurbishment in the industry.

WHI is currently recruiting for a Janitorial/ Labourer position for the Fort McKay location on a  1 week on/ 1 week off rotation, 12-hour shifts. Reporting to the Shop Foreman your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following;

What you will do

• Ensures all office complex areas and facilities are cleaned on a daily basis and garbage is disposed of in approved containers (this includes but is not limited to offices, lunchroom, washroom, locker rooms & shop)

• Ensures all walkways and doorways are cleared to avoid potential of slip or fall of personnel, subcontractors & customers

• Additional Janitorial and Facilities Maintenance as required or directed

• Responds to requests in a timely manner

• Perform other duties as required

Your Qualifications

Education:

• Preference will be given to high school graduates

Experience:

• A minimum of 6 months of related experience
• Valid Forklift certificate 

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of general safety practices

General knowledge of basic tools and equipment

Skills:

• Communication skills to read, write, listen and speak in a clear and concise manner to individuals at various levels
• Interpersonal skills work collaboratively and cooperatively with others
• Time management skills to productively complete work and meet all expected deadlines
• Organizational skills to plan out and coordinate work in a logical manner
• Analytical and problem solving skills to methodically and logically work through problems

Abilities

• Learns quickly and is willing to ask questions
• Safety conscious
• Follows instructions thoroughly and uses good judgement
• Demonstrates strong work ethics (attendance, punctuality, reliability, honesty, etc.)
• Physically fit to lift items weight up to 20kg
• Self motivated to manage his or her time effectively and productively
