CASUAL LABOURER - FACILITIES Position Type: Temporary Full Time
Number of Positions: One (1) Department: Community Services Department – Property & Facilities Division

Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre (QSWC - 265 Cannifton Road, Belleville) and Kinsmen Pool (151 Dundas Street East, Belleville)
Hours: 40 hours per week; varied shifts
Term of Employment: Up to 200 days in a 12-month period
Employee Group : Union - CUPE
Salary: $25.15 per hour, plus $1.85 shift premium where applicable Closing Date: March 16, 2026 at 4:30 PM
PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Currently, the City of Belleville has an exciting opportunity for one (1) highly motivated and dynamic individual to join the Community Services Department. The Casual Labourer position is responsible for maintenance and repairs to various buildings and structures with a focus on external building repairs, drywall repairs and painting.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operating city vehicles and equipment as required
- Operating various construction equipment and machinery
- Maintain building cleanliness and sanitation including lobbies, washrooms, hallways, meeting rooms and the outside perimeter of the building(s)
- Operating non-power tools (i.e., hand saw, bolt cutters etc.)
- Performs preventive building maintenance duties such as drywall, plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Repair holes in walls, and paint interior and exterior walls
- Work independently and as a part of a team
- Undertake other duties as assigned, in support of the City and Departmental objectives.
Note: the above duties and responsibilities are not to be construed as all-inclusive. EDUCATION/TRAINING/SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid full class G Driver’s License and a clean driving record
- Ability to work in a variety of conditions and perform physical labour
- Experience in building maintenance and repairs
- Candidates are required to have their own safety boots.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Customer service experience
- General knowledge of plumbing and electrical an asset
- Pool and custodial experience considered an asset
