The Opportunity: The Project Manager 1 is responsible for providing overall management for assigned Changed Requests, low and medium complexity projects, including IT or non-IT related CRs and projects (Real Estate, Legal, Financial), which may be internal or Client facing. The incumbent will be able to manage multiple CR/Projects at one time, managing project scope, budget, costs, timeline and resources to ensure adherence with approved project plans. Documents, reports and escalates variances to plan and suggests a course of action as required, including working with the team to identify, anticipate and manage project issues and risks, escalating risk/issues that are unresolved to senior management. Leads the change request estimation process to ensure all responses are delivered within the prescribed SLA.

This is a hybrid role with requirements to be on site 3 days a week, providing a balance between remote flexibility and in-person collaboration. #

About The Role:

  • Manage change requests (CRs) and low and medium complexity projects, ensuring CRs and projects are delivered on time and on budget, and meet scope requirements.
  • Ensure all key stakeholders are kept in the loop via formal and informal communication channels on project related progress.
  • Assist in the preparation of documents, which may include Statements of Work, estimates, requirements analysis for projects etc.
  • Responsible for preparing response to change requests (CRs under $50k) to our Clients, as applicable.
  • Facilitate and participate in team meetings to communicate progress, status, risks, issues, assignments and escalations.
  • Oversee and ensure project level reporting is conducted in accordance with Symcor standards and timelines, including ensuring PM’s complete and submit weekly Project Status Reports (PSR) to the EPO/Program Manager, participating in project execution, Joint Steering Committee and Executive Steering Committee meetings, and providing program/project updates to clients, and other status updates, as requested, in support of executive reporting.
  • Review of resource assignments and forecast, and updated project demand.
  • Highlight areas of concerns, major variances to project plan, identify options and propose recommendations to address the same.
  • Create Project Status Report and submit to EPO/Program Manager.
  • Provide other status updates, as requested, in support of executive reporting.
  • Maintain an up-to-date view of the project resource plan, including highlighting any areas of concerns, and the impact to project deliverables to ensure timelines and budget requirements are met. Monitor and adjust project resource plan and schedule as required.
  • Work closely with Front Office Technical Consultant to ensure due diligence activities and outcomes are documented and in line with the project business objectives at the beginning of each project. Ensure change request (CR) responses are developed and delivered for approval (internal and external) on time (within SLA obligations, including ‘7 day’ response for Change Requests).
  • Assist with requirements gathering and scope definition, creation of notional timeline and estimate gathering.
  • For change requests (CRs under $50k Symcor cost), the PM is required to work with the team to triage the request, prepare and send the response to our shareholder bank Clients within 7 business days (SLA obligation as per MSA).

What You Need to Succeed: Education:

  • College diploma or undergraduate university degree in a related discipline or a combination of experience, education and/or training deemed to be equivalent.
  • PMP or working towards PMP certification

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of Project Management experience following a structured project management methodology.

Skill Requirements

  • Working knowledge of PMI’s project management approach and completion of an introductory course.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization, including client-facing interactions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Confluence).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and influence without authority.
