At General Motors, we’re redefining the in-vehicle experience. As a Senior Infotainment Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering robust, high-quality infotainment features to millions of customers. You’ll lead test strategy, drive automation, mentor others, and help shape how we validate next-generation connected vehicle applications.

You will be responsible for defining and executing the test strategy for our infotainment applications, with a strong focus on automation, quality, and scalability. You’ll collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and other quality leaders to ensure new features are thoroughly validated and released with confidence.

##What You’ll Do:

  • Define the end-to-end test strategy and test plans for infotainment applications based on product roadmaps and release milestones.
  • Identify test coverage goals and balance manual vs automated testing to optimize quality and velocity.
  • Design and document detailed test cases and test scenarios from requirements and user stories (experience with Jira and Xray is a plus).
  • Execute smoke, sanity, regression, performance, stability, and exploratory tests and ensure results are tracked and communicated clearly.
  • Build and maintain test automation frameworks (e.g., Robot Framework, Appium) to maximize regression and functional coverage.
  • Develop and enhance test tools, utilities, and scripts to support automated testing and continuous integration.
  • Design and maintain automation pipelines for different test types (smoke, sanity, regression, performance, monkey, stability, etc.).
  • Set up, configure, and maintain required test environments, devices, benches, and test equipment for both manual and automated execution.
  • Troubleshoot environment issues and ensure the lab is reliable and ready for test execution.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive test reports and dashboards summarizing coverage, defects, and readiness.
  • Provide initial issue triage and analysis; partner with development teams on root cause and fix validation.
  • Actively contribute to defect prevention, process improvements, and best practices across the QA organization.
  • Provide technical leadership within the test team, mentoring junior engineers in automation, tooling, and test design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, product, UX, systems, integration, vehicle teams) to ensure high quality end-to-end solutions.
  • Champion continuous improvement of test processes, methodologies, and automation practices.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of embedded software QA/test experience in the mobile or automotive industry.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience testing Android code (applications, frameworks, or services).
  • 3+ years of technical leadership experience, including mentoring or guiding junior team members.
  • Strong knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies, test design techniques, and QA tools.
  • Proven experience with test automation frameworks such as Robot Framework and/or Appium.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python and/or Java for building automation, tools, and scripts.
  • Understanding of Scrum/Agile software development practices and working within cross-functional agile teams.
  • Knowledge of connectivity technologies (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, mobile data, cloud services) and end-to-end vehicle application testing is an asset.
  • Experience with vehicle communication network protocols such as CAN and Ethernet is a plus.

Soft Skills

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly articulate test strategy, risks, and results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
