Worley Canada Construction is looking for a Senior Material Controller for our growing Materials Management team to work from our Edmonton Home Office. This position supports our field sites, fabrication facilities and the continuous improvement of our functional processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

· Stewards the early involvement of materials management during the project initiation and planning phases and engagement of other disciplines during project execution.

· Are comfortable developing project plans and reviewing contract documents and specifications.

· Reviews engineering drawings and project specifications to compile material take-offs, documenting overall material needs for the project.

· Applies the material responsibility matrix, commodity codes and other necessary attributes to delineate material requirements for specific scope areas.

· Generates material requisitions for bulk materials and works alongside Buyers to support the purchasing process.

· Receives and maintains inventory within Worley’s Material Management software, processing material receipts and issue tickets.

· Engages and supports the field-level materials team and prioritizes ensuring they can successfully receive incoming materials and resolve issues.

· Logs issues and supports the resolution of overages, shortages, and damages.

· Understands the importance of material traceability and ensures compliance with the traceability process.

· Regularly participates in or chairs meetings both internally and with the client.

· Works alongside our clients to discuss progress, overcome issues and proactively manage change.

· Regularly prepares complex reports for both internal and external customers.

  • Steward reporting on information pertaining to materials across different functional groups, including status reports and material lookaheads

· Engages in construction planning, scheduling and conducts forecasting of materials availability / requirements to support this.

· Embraces the use of technology to facilitate efficient and accurate processing and of data, as well as sharing with internal stakeholders to avoid duplication of effort.

· Reviews and investigates complex problems with the ability to discover underlying issues and consider solutions.

· Champions process consistency among projects and the development of achievable process and procedures.

· Develops and mentors team members.

· Works alongside the Senior Materials Manager to develop and execute strategic initiatives.

· Other materials management activities as assigned by the Senior Material Manager or Senior Leadership.

· Understands Agile Prioritization: Maximises productivity and efficiency by continual evaluation of priorities and adjusting outstanding tasks to ensure the most valuable assignments are completed first.

Qualifications

  • Completion of post-secondary education or trades certification is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in Industrial construction is required.
  • Knowledge of the fabrication / modularization process is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrable experience with large to mega-sized projects, preferably EPC.
  • Practical knowledge of pipe, valves, fittings, instrumentation, equipment, and electrical materials and the associated material grades, codes and standards is strongly preferred.
  • MS Excel Experience – knowledge of advanced Excel functions and Power Apps is considered an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of and confident user of Material Management and Procurement systems (Aveva Enterprise Resource Management Systems or equivalent SAP, JD Edwards, Site Sense etc.)
